Privacy Policy

Collage Studio is built to keep your images private. Your photos are processed entirely in your browser and are never uploaded. This policy explains the anonymous usage statistics we collect automatically to improve the layout engine.

Your images never leave your device

All image decoding, layout generation, and rendering happen locally in your browser. Your image files are read from your disk into browser memory and are never transmitted to any server. We never see, store, or have access to your photos or the collages you create.

Anonymous usage statistics

To improve the layout engine, we automatically collect a small amount of anonymous performance data after each collage is generated. This data cannot be used to identify you — it contains no personal information, no device fingerprint, and no tracking identifiers of any kind.

After each collage we send:

  • The number of images, and each image's pixel dimensions and relative size weight.
  • The chosen output format, canvas dimensions, and orientation.
  • Layout-engine performance statistics: coverage achieved, solve duration, generation counts, and scores.
  • Device class (desktop or mobile) and a coarse CPU core bucket (low / mid / high).
  • A random correlation value that exists only in memory for the current browser tab — used solely to group the collages made in one sitting, never stored or reused.

We never send:

  • Your images, or any pixel data from them.
  • Image file names.
  • Your IP address, browser, operating system, or screen resolution.
  • Any account, name, email, or contact information (there are no accounts).

No cookies and no tracking

We use no cookies and no third-party tracking or analytics services. No information is stored in your browser for the purpose of statistics collection. Because no personal data is collected and no non-essential storage is used, no consent banner is required.

Legal basis

The statistics described above are designed to be anonymous in the sense of GDPR Recital 26: we collect no identifiers and do not attempt to single out, link, or identify any individual, and we do not combine this data with other sources. Anonymised data of this kind is generally treated as falling outside the scope of the GDPR. The sole purpose of collection is to analyse and improve the quality and performance of the layout algorithm. We do not share data with third parties.

Data controller and contact

The data controller is Marcus Cedergren. For any privacy question, contact collage-studio@kodverket.se. Because all statistics are anonymous and carry no identifier, we are generally unable to locate or link records to a specific individual.

Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes to what is collected will be reflected here.
